Market Square Health Care Center celebrates National Assisted Living Week

Residents, staff, volunteers, and families of residents at Market Square Health Care Center have been enjoying the activities of National Assisted Living Week (September 10-16).  Cheryl Landry, who is the Director of Residential Care at the facility, was the master of ceremonies for the week, planning events, and keeping things running smoothly.

Some of the activities at Market Square during the week will be heart healthy walks, a wedding day on which staff and residents are encouraged to share wedding photos and stories, while enjoying wedding cake.  A pajama day will take place on Wednesday with staff cooking breakfast on the unit for residents, a heart day will also take place with carnival like activities including balloons and face painting.  Market Square Administrator, Philip DuBois, says of the week, "This celebration recognizes both our staff - for investing their hearts into the lives of our residents - and our residents, for the unique contributions they each have made to society and to the home-like atmosphere of Market Square."

National Assisted Living Week is in its 12th year, with the theme this year of Hearts in Harmony.  This celebration was coordinated to honor staff and volunteers who work in assisted living communities, and to celebrate the individuals and families who utilize the services as well.

Caregivers across the country have planned activities, events, and parties based on the theme, "Hearts in Harmony." The theme reflects assisted living's philosophy of staff and residents working together to deliver care and services according to an individual's preferences.
Every day, quality assisted living and residential providers are striving to ensure that their services are harmonious with residents' desires.
