Stephens Volunteer Services Honors Volunteers
Presents Capital Campaign Donation

At its Annual Volunteer Luncheon, on October 26, 2006th, the Stephens Volunteer Services (SVS) celebrated and recognized the dedication and commitment of its volunteers.  Held annually in the Harper Conference Center to honor the hard work of volunteers, representatives from the SVS Council Board and Western Maine Health administrators thanked members and volunteers for the thousands of hours of recorded volunteer time for the year.   SVS Council president Andrea Burns honored volunteers for their immeasurable gift of 'in-kind' services given to the hospital every time they volunteer.

During this gathering of more than 60 people, SVS also presented a check for $25,000, the final installment of its $250,000 pledge to the Campaign for Exceptional Care.  This pledge was made initially by the Stephens Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.  In 2004, the Auxiliary became Stephens Volunteer Services, and the group guaranteed to honor the pledge made.   John Cox, Western Maine Health Senior VP Fiscal was on hand to receive the check.  Cox thanked the volunteers present and all of Stephens Volunteer Services for their dedication, hard work and commitment to see this very generous pledge through, stating he was happy and proud to accept it.

SVS Treasurer Bonnie Clark also presented a $5,000 check to Barbara Allen, Director of Development, for the SVS donation to the 2006 Annual Fund.  Allen thanked those present and shared that the efforts of all volunteers and this donation were appreciated.

The Stephens Volunteer Services endeavors to provide assistance to the hospital and assists through volunteerism, fundraising, and public relations.  Forms for membership and volunteering are available at the Human Resources.
