Women's Imaging Center at Stephens Memorial Hospital Earns Perfect Rating in Mammography

NORWAY, ME - Timothy A. Churchill, President & CEO of Stephens Memorial Hospital (SMH), announces that the Mammography Center at SMH has earned a perfect score during the recent mammography inspection conducted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  The inspection resulted in a rating of full compliance with no deficiencies. The inspector also commended the department for "Excellent QA, QC, and records documentation".

The staff of the Mammography department, headed by Ms. Jean Foster, was congratulated for their efforts and attention put into developing exceptional operating systems.  The inspection compared specific items in six major areas to the required standards, and all areas reviewed were found to be in compliance without exception.

The Mammography Center at Stephens Memorial Hospital offers a full range of breast care services - diagnosis, education and treatment - in a supportive, respectful environment.  The center uses state-of-the-art technology to produce mammograms with greater image quality, allowing for more accurate readings.  The Mammography Center also offers stereotactic biopsies, which eliminate the need for most surgical biopsies and are much less invasive than surgery.
