Longtime SMH Employee Earns CNA

Western Maine Health Vice President of Clinical Services, M. Patricia Cook is pleased to recognize longtime employee Denise Eliot-Pruett for recently completing her Certified Nurses Assistant Course and in doing so shared the Valedictory honors with another classmate, earning the classes highest honor.

Denise has been an employee of Stephens Memorial Hospital for over 25 years, with most of her time at the front desk in the Surgical Services Department.   Denise was able to continue to work full time as a Secretary/Scheduler in the Operating Room, be a full time wife and mother and complete her CNA required class and clinical hours.

Beverly Snow, RN-C, Nurse Director of the Operating Room shares, "Denise excelled in the program graduating top in her class and also being voted the Care Giver Award by her classmates, which is a very special honor.  Denise is very committed to her job and to the patients we serve.  She will now have the opportunity to provide more hands on care to our patients than she could before."

Denise is thrilled about her success and says, "I am excited about what I have learned in my class and how I have utilized my skills in my current position.  My supervisor and co-workers were so supportive of my mission to complete this class.  I look forward to being more versatile in the department and in the future also working more closely with the elderly of my home community of North Waterford."

Denise lives in North Waterford with her husband and two children.
