Western Maine Health President and Chief Executive Officer Timothy Churchill announced recently that Michael Hatch, Safety & Security Coordinator for Western Maine Health has recently returned from a Homeland Security Training in Alabama.
Hatch attended a training offered by the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) which is operated by the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency and is the only federally-chartered Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) training facility in the nation.
Training at the CDP includes healthcare and public health courses at the Noble Training Facility, the nation's only hospital dedicated to training healthcare professionals in disaster preparedness and response. Responders like Hatch, who participate in the training gain critical skills and confidence to respond effectively to local incidents or potential WMD events.
Mike has been employed with Western Maine Health since 2007, and is an Emergency Management Agency/Local Emergency Planning Committee Instructor for Hazardous Materials Response, Incident Command, and Citizen Emergency Response Teams. He also serves as the Assistant Fire Chief of Brownfield, is an EMT-Intermediate and Deputy Fire Chief of Fryeburg Rescue.
