SMH Welcomes First Baby Born in 2012
Stephens Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the arrival of the first baby born in 2012, Caehyl Alexys. Cassandra Mann went into labor during the early hours of January 1st just one day before her due date of January 2nd. In just over two hours Caehyl was born at 5:27AM weighing 8 lbs and 12 ounces and measuring 21 inches in length. Caehyl may have been one day early but her timing was perfect, earning her the title of the first baby born at Stephens Memorial Hospital in 2012.
Cassandra and Kyle Mann Sr. of South Paris welcomed their new baby girl with the help of Dr. Martha Morgan. Caehyl joins her big brother Kyle Jr., age 2 ½ who refers to his new baby sister as "perfect".
As part of the celebration Stephens Memorial Hospital presented baby Caehyl and family with gifts donated by area businesses including: Oxford Hannaford, New Balance, Wal-Mart, Stephens Volunteer Services and Stephens Memorial Hospital Community Relations Department.
As the first of Maine's babies born in 2012, Caehyl, along with all other Maine resident babies born in 2012 is eligible through the Harold Alfond College Challenge to receive a $500 grant to start a NextGen College Investing Plan® account. Beloved philanthropist Harold Alfond established the program before he died to ensure access to higher education for all Maine's children. There is no income limit or need to contribute additional money to receive the grant.
Happy New Year and Congratulations to the Mann Family!
