Stephens Community Healthcare Foundation Annual Meeting
Members of the Stephens Community Healthcare Foundation (SCHF) met on Wednesday, May 16th in the Harper Conference Center at Stephens Memorial Hospital for the Annual Meeting.
Gene Benner, Chair of the Western Maine Health (WMH) Board welcomed attendees and announced fourteen new Foundation members. William White of Bethel was elected to a three year term on the Stephens Community Healthcare Foundation Board.
Timothy Churchill, CEO and President of WMH shared highlights of 2011 and discussed with the group the hospitals efforts to meet the community needs and plans for the future for the delivery of healthcare in the changing environment.
Gregory Hardy, MD, of Western Maine OB/GYN and Rural School Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship Site Director of the Maine Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine described the continued growth and success of the program. Dr. Hardy introduced the class of 2014 medical students in the program. These four students recently moved to the community for the next nine months of their clerkship at SMH.
Andrea Dodge Patstone, Vice President Strategic Initiatives at MaineHealth was the featured speaker of the evening. Ms. Patstone is responsible for developing and implementing changes across the Maine Health system that will enable MaineHealth to respond to – and thrive under – new models for healthcare finance and governance that have emerged as a result of health reform. Ms. Patstone spoke about health and social service reform and the lessons learned and challenges faced along the way.
The Stephens Community Healthcare Foundation directs the fundraising and philanthropic activities of Western Maine Health, including Stephens Memorial Hospital.
