SMH Gregory Hardy, MD Presented The Roger A. Renfrew, M.D. Rural Teaching Award

Timothy A. Churchill, President and CEO, Stephens Memorial Hospital announces The Roger A. Renfrew, M.D. Rural Teaching Award has been presented to Gregory J. Hardy, M.D., FACOG.  This distinction is awarded based upon votes by the Maine Medical Center/Tufts School of Medicine Maine Track medical students. Dr. Hardy is the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship Site Director for the MMC/TUSM program at Stephens Memorial Hospital and Assistant Professor for the Tufts University School of Medicine.

The first class of the Maine Medical Center/Tufts School of Medicine graduated on Saturday, May 11, 2013 with 32 medical students.  The students will begin their respective residency programs in July in the following specialties; family medicine, internal medicine, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, orthopedics, general surgery, obstetrics/gynecology, radiology and dermatology.  It is the hope that these physicians will return to Maine to practice following the completion of their residency program to help ease the physician shortage.

Dr. Hardy attended medical school at the University of Connecticut and completed an internship and residency program at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut.  He is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.  Dr. Hardy has been practicing at Western Maine OB/GYN and Stephens Memorial Hospital since 1994.
